SkyCommand - Battery Operated Controller Installation

The BOC series of battery-operated controllers (BOC) enables wireless programming of waterproof controllers via Hunter Centralus™ Software (or other authorized networks).

Operating BOC Controllers requires one SkyCommand Universal Communication Hub (UCH) per site, with appropriate modules installed and configured. The UCH can use Cell, LAN, or Wi-Fi modules to connect to Centralus online and a LoRa® wireless radio to connect to the BOC devices in the field. Once the UCH is online and you have access to Centralus, you can start adding individual BOC devices to the system.

NOTE: The serial number is marked in gray on the side of the BOC, next to the red and black wiring. Once the field installation is complete, you can add the BOC in the Centralus software.

1

Install the BOC in its own valve box. If space allows, you can install it in the same box as the valve.
• BOC Controllers are designed to operate Hunter DC-Latching Solenoids (P/N 458200).
• Wiring connections may be extended up to 100' (33 m) from the BOC to the solenoid.

2

Use the 1.5" (38 mm) hole saw included with the UCH to drill the mounting hole for the BOC Controller. If needed, use a battery-operated jigsaw to remove any remaining support ribs in the
valve box.

3

Squeeze the top and bottom of the battery holder to release the battery compartment, then push it out.

4

Open the battery compartment lid latches and remove the lid.

5

Install four D-Cell (R20) batteries, observing polarity. Prefer solar power? Add the solar panel kit
(P/N BOC-SOL), sold separately.

6

Reseal the battery compartment, then reinstall it in the battery holder.

7

Thread the nut onto the mounting column. Insert the column through the hole in the valve box lid, then install the top cap above the lid. Tighten the nut on the underside of the lid.

8

Connect the numbered DC solenoid wires: red to red and black to black. Use waterproof connectors only.
• On multi-station versions, connect all black solenoid wires with the black common wire from the BOC.
