Proper installation and connection of the decoder's two-wire paths is very important. Learn more
- Use only Hunter IDWIRE or an approved substitute.
- Use only Hunter DBRY-6 waterproof connectors in the red and blue two-wire path connections.
- Leave adequate slack (about 5' or 1.5 m) at each splice to prevent disconnection.
Each A2C-D75 output module supports up to 75 decoder stations.
- Each module allows up to three two-wire path connections.
- Each path may be up to 10,000' (3 km) with 14 AWG (2 mm2) wire or up to 15,000' (4.5 km) with 12 AWG (approximately 3.31 mm2) wire.
- Two-wire paths may be tee-spliced (in a valve box with approved connectors) as long as the maximum distance to each end of the paths from the controller does not exceed the maximum for the wire used.
You can have more than 75 stations on a single two-wire path. If more than one A2C-D75 is installed, the additional station numbers can be assigned to another decoder output module. This must be done with the Station Assignments function on the Decoder menu so the controller will know which module has the additional stations. Learn more

Program decoder station address at A2C-75D-x programming port before installation, or use the wireless ICD-HP Programmer for added convenience.

Mark the station number(s) on the decoder label with a pen.

Use the toggle switch on the transformer to turn off the controller power.

At the decoder/valve box location, make sure there is approximately 5' (1.5 m) of extra wire, half on either side of the splice. Cut the two-wire path for splicing at the midpoint of the slack loop.

Strip the decoder wire for splicing. A section of protective outer jacket can be removed from each end to provide enough wire to work with comfortably. A minimum of 8" (20 cm) is recommended. Lightly score the outer jacket of the two-wire path at the desired length. Do not cut all the way through the jacket.

Snap the jacket at the cut. Slide the extra piece of jacket off the twisted pair. Cut and strip the red and blue wire ends 0.5" (12 mm).

Join the red wire ends with the red decoder lead, and install in the supplied waterproof connector. Repeat for the blue wires.

Decoders can be staked for ease of service with the Hunter model DECSTAKE10 and supplied with zip ties.

A prewired solenoid will work on any Hunter valve.

Connect bare copper wire to earth ground hardware as specified by the designer. Install approved earth ground hardware (plate or rod) at least 8' (2.5 m) away from two-wire path, every 12th decoder or 1,000' (300 m), at a minimum.
