Water Triggers guide Hydrawise to change the programs based on your feedback. You can use the default weather triggers or create your adjustments. Examples of triggers include shutting down irrigation before a rain event or watering more often during hot weather.
Predictive Watering™ Adjustments
| Water Trigger | Default Setting | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Don't water when today's forecast temperature is less than | 68°F | Skips watering for the day when the forecast high falls below this temperature. The schedule resumes its normal checks the following day. |
| Water 30% less when today's forecast temperature is less than | 77°F / 30% less | Reduces the watering duration by 30% when the forecast high falls below this temperature. Watering still runs, just for less time. |
| Water 30% more when today's forecast temperature is above | 86°F / 30% more, humidity below 100% | Increases the watering duration by 30% when the forecast high exceeds this temperature and humidity is below the set threshold, compensating for higher evaporation in hot, dry conditions. |
| Don't water when the chance of rain is higher than | 80% | Skips watering for the day when the forecast probability of rain exceeds this threshold. The schedule resumes its normal checks the following day. |
| Don't water when today's forecast wind speed is higher than | Off (19 mph when enabled) | Skips watering for the day when the local forecast wind speed exceeds this value, preventing uneven coverage and water waste. The schedule resumes its normal checks the following day. Disabled by default. |
| Use forecast temperature to predict smart watering | On | Applies forecast high temperature data when calculating Smart Watering run times. Only active when Smart Watering mode is enabled. |
| Use forecast rainfall to predict smart watering | On | Applies forecast rainfall data when calculating Smart Watering run times. Only active when Smart Watering mode is enabled. |
Weather Station Adjustments
| Water Trigger | Default Setting | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Don't water when the last 24hr rainfall is higher than | 0.1 in | Skips watering when your weather station has recorded more than this amount of rainfall in the past 24 hours. Prevents overwatering after recent rain. |
| Don't water when the last 3 days rainfall is higher than | 1.5 in / 3 days | Skips watering when your weather station has recorded more than this amount of cumulative rainfall over the past 3 days. Accounts for soil saturation after sustained rainfall. |
