The WAND Module allows your X2 Controller to connect directly to the router using the WPS button. The WPS (Wi‑Fi Protected Setup) button on a router is designed to simplify the process of connecting devices to a wireless network. Instead of manually entering a Wi‑Fi password, users can press the WPS button to establish a quick connection between the router and a device. When the button is pressed, the router enters a short pairing mode—usually lasting about two minutes—during which compatible devices can connect automatically.
Once connected, you can access and manage the controller with your smartphone, tablet, or computer. You can follow the in-app step instructions to connect the X2 controller to the Hydrawise app using the WAND device. Review the checklist below before starting the setup process.

IMPORTANT: If you have previously attempted to install and connect the WAND to your Wi-Fi network, we recommend performing a factory reset. Learn More
- Open the Hydrawise App and tap Sign Up.
- Enter your name and email. Tap Done.
- You will receive a welcome email from Hydrawise. Tap on Let's Get Started.
- Create a Password, then tap OK.
- Tap on Let's Get Started.
- Name your controller, then tap Continue (e.g., X2 Controller).
- Remove the Side Cover from the X2 controller.
- Enter the Serial Number manually or scan the barcode on the WAND device
- Tap Continue in the app.
- Tap Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Insert the WAND into the slot on the right side of the controller. Tap Wand Inserted-Next.
- Tap WPS Router (Pbc Mode).
- Press the Black Button on the WAND three times. Tap Continue in the Hydrawise app.
- Press the WPS button on your router to begin the pairing process.
- Tap Continue when the X2 Controller screen shows "Online."
Once the screen on the X2 Controller says "Online," your controller is connected to Hydrawise. You can now go back to the Hydrawise app and finish configuring your controller.
